Protect people first

• Never publish an exact current location, home address, school, shelter, hospital, witness identity, or protected contact.
• Do not confront, follow, detain, threaten, or publicly identify a possible match.
• Send urgent credible information to the appropriate authority and the protected Retrouver review channel.
• Adult reconnection requires consent. A person’s decision not to reconnect must be respected unless lawful authority requires otherwise.

Missing children and high-risk cases

Child, abduction, trafficking, endangered-person, and high-risk cases require heightened verification and may be restricted or referred to competent authorities. Do not pose as a guardian, investigator, or law-enforcement officer.

AI and public-source findings

AI similarities, web results, name matches, route hypotheses, and map correlations are possible leads only. They may be wrong, outdated, duplicated, manipulated, or concern another person. Human review, provenance, source verification, and lawful authority are required before action.

Maps, cameras, and live locations

Camera discovery never grants permission to access a feed. LOCATION_ONLY and PUBLIC_PREVIEW are not AUTHORIZED_LIVE. Never bypass authentication, private CCTV controls, paywalls, or provider restrictions. Live location sharing must be time-limited, authorized, case-scoped, and revocable.

Marketplace safety

Use only approved professionals, keep communication and milestone payments inside Retrouver, review credentials, and report pressure to pay elsewhere. Providers are independent professionals, not Retrouver employees or law enforcement unless explicitly identified by their agency.

Report a concern

Report impersonation, exploitation, unsafe contact, fraud, misinformation, privacy exposure, provider misconduct, or a vulnerable person concern through Support. Preserve evidence without redistributing sensitive material.
