Effective date: October 6, 2026
This notice applies to Retrouver websites, installed web applications, case workspaces, professional Marketplace, Command Center, public-source discovery, camera discovery, support, and related services. Retrouver is the controller for data it determines how and why to process. Independent professionals and connected organizations may also be separate controllers for information they lawfully receive.
Information we process
- Account and profile data: name, email, telephone, country, profile photo, biography, language, role, and authentication records.
- Case and safeguarding data: requester relationship, missing-person details, photographs, documents, approximate or protected locations, sightings, communications, leads, case timelines, and review decisions.
- Professional and Marketplace data: credentials, services, proposals, contracts, milestones, payment status, disputes, reviews, and organization membership.
- Technical and security data: session, device, IP/security metadata, consent and access records, audit logs, and fraud-prevention signals.
- Public-source and authorized integration data: official notices, public web pages, permitted media, source URLs, retrieval times, provenance, and authorized camera metadata or previews.
- Payment data: Stripe processes card and banking details. Retrouver stores transaction identifiers, amounts, status, invoices, disputes, and accounting records rather than full payment-card numbers.
Purposes and legal bases
Depending on context, we process data to perform a contract, respond to your request, protect vital interests, comply with law, pursue legitimate interests in safe case administration and fraud prevention, perform tasks supported by applicable public-interest rules, or act on consent. Explicit consent or another permitted legal basis is required when special-category or biometric data is processed. AI findings and image comparisons support human review; they are not automatic confirmation of identity or location.
Sharing and recipients
Information is shared only according to role, case assignment, sensitivity, and authorization. Recipients may include assigned professionals, authorized organizations or agencies, payment processors, cloud and communications processors, public-source providers, and competent authorities when legally required or necessary to protect a person. Requesters do not automatically receive sealed investigator notes, protected witness details, restricted camera information, or agency-only data.
International transfers
Retrouver operates globally. Data may be processed outside your country. Where European data is transferred internationally, Retrouver uses an applicable transfer mechanism and safeguards, such as an adequacy decision, approved contractual clauses, and access controls, as required by law.
Retention
We keep data only as long as necessary for the stated purpose, safety, legal obligations, disputes, fraud prevention, accounting, and authorized case administration. Retention is reviewed by data category. Authentication and profile data are removed or anonymized when an eligible account-deletion request completes. Financial, audit, evidentiary, safety, agency, and case records may require longer restricted retention.
Account deletion and case retention
You can delete your personal account from Dashboard → Settings. This revokes sessions and removes or anonymizes login credentials, profile details and photos, OAuth links, two-factor secrets, notifications, saved searches, and standalone safety/help records. Active paid membership must first be cancelled so billing cannot continue on an inaccessible account.
Deleting an account does not delete cases. A case can concern other people, child safety, active investigations, contractual records, evidence, fraud prevention, legal claims, or public-interest safeguards. Cases created by a deleted user are restricted and placed under administrative review. Only an authorized Retrouver administrator may approve case deletion. A request to erase or restrict personal data inside a retained case will be assessed individually under applicable law; Retrouver will explain any lawful exception or retention requirement.
Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection; withdraw consent where consent is the basis; and ask for human review of a significant automated decision. You may also complain to your local supervisory authority. Requests are authenticated to protect against impersonation and are normally answered within the legally required period. Use Support or the account controls in Settings.
Children and protected people
Case information about children or protected people receives heightened access controls and human safeguarding review. A requester must have a lawful relationship or authority. Retrouver does not publish exact protected locations, private contact details, or sensitive case evidence by default.
Security and changes
Retrouver uses least-privilege access, case-scoped permissions, authentication controls, encryption in transit, restricted storage, audit logging, human review, and incident procedures. No service can guarantee absolute security. We will update this notice when processing materially changes and provide additional notice where required.
